PGCPS Streamlines Complex Communications To Better Serve Low-income Families

Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) is one of the nation’s largest districts, serving about 131,000 students across 209 schools with a highly diverse and often low-income population. The district faced fragmented, manual communications—different platforms at each school, limited visibility for district staff, and previous systems that charged for text alerts, leaving many families without timely access to school information.

PGCPS implemented Granicus’ GovDelivery Communications Cloud and interactive text messaging to centralize, automate and standardize districtwide messaging while preserving school-level control. Granicus handled setup and training; the platform enabled self-service subscriptions, multi-user management and real-time analytics, helping PGCPS reach 187K people, amass 3.9M total subscriptions and send millions of SMS messages (≈2.5M), reduce staff workload, and run more effective registration and weather campaigns.
