A Granicus Case Study
The City of Olathe, Kansas, pursued a 20-year “Olathe 2040” plan to modernize city services but faced a dated website, a broken document-management system, manual agenda processes, and most services trapped in tedious PDFs — problems made more urgent by COVID-19. The goal was a user-focused, customer-friendly digital experience that would make information easier to find and services easier to use.
Olathe implemented Granicus’ Civic Engagement Platform — govAccess, govDelivery, govMeetings, and early-stage govService — using integrations like Send by govDelivery and Send Agenda and pairing govMeetings with an external video provider. The result: residents find what they need in under two minutes, subscribers grew from 2,167 to more than 60,000 (2660%), agenda page traffic doubled to 16K, direct site access rose 12%, session times fell, agenda creation was simplified, and new online services (like a block party permit) are already live.
