A Granicus Case Study
The Village of Ruidoso, New Mexico, faced a surge in short-term rentals that created safety and neighborhood concerns and overwhelmed staff efforts to register properties and collect monthly lodger’s tax. Officials needed a more efficient way to identify hosts, educate them on rules, and ensure tax compliance.
Ruidoso implemented Host Compliance to locate STRs and send educational letters that encourage registration and tax payment. Within a year compliance rose to 92% (a 31% increase), and the village collected $673K in lodger’s tax—$20K above budget—while improving neighborhood safety and administrative efficiency.
