How Nova Scotia is Building a Resident-centric Government with Technology

Nova Scotia needed a more efficient way to manage business licensing, permits, inspections, and other government programs while improving service to residents and businesses. The province adopted Granicus’ govService Amanda platform nearly 20 years ago, using it as an enterprise system to support shared services across departments and help make government more resident-centric.

With Granicus, Nova Scotia implemented Amanda to replace what would have required about 15 separate point solutions. The province now saves C$5.5 million annually in security, patching, upgrades, and maintenance, while also improving data sharing across departments and managing about 30 programs, over 500 license and permit types, and roughly 400,000 transactions worth more than C$500 million each year.
