How Lewisville, TX Digitally Transformed Their Municipal Court Experience

The City of Lewisville, TX faced a backlog of municipal court cases, low court turnout, and defendants who often forgot long-delayed court dates or couldn’t easily return to resolve their cases. Working with Granicus and its govAccess platform, the city set out to create a more convenient, user-friendly digital court experience.

Granicus helped Lewisville launch online forms, online jury registration, text-message reminders, web chat, remote paperwork signing, and digital payment options. The results included improved court attendance, increased disposition and clearance rates, reduced warrants and failures to appear, and stronger collections despite a nearly 40% decline in citations. Lewisville also saw case clearance rates rise by more than 10% from 2021 to 2022, and nearly 500 residents used online jury registration in the first year.
