A Granicus Case Study
The City and County of Honolulu set out to become a lean, clean, smart, future-focused city, but realized its departments needed technology to connect more effectively with residents. With a population of about 1,016,508 and roughly 70% mobile adoption, city leaders wanted a mobile-first solution to boost transparency, trust, and civic engagement across more than 55 service request types.
Honolulu deployed Granicus’ govService OneView to power its branded Honolulu 311 mobile app and centralized service hub, enabling residents to report issues like abandoned vehicles, broken streetlights, and illegal dumping in real time across mobile, web, phone, and in-person channels. The initiative increased resident engagement, helped the city address complex challenges through community input, and earned recognition including a Sunlight Award and praise from the Center of Digital Governance.
