A Granicus Case Study
The Town of Dunedin, Florida (pop. ~36,000), needed to modernize an outdated, decentralized communications strategy after an influx of new residents and the need for reliable, centralized messaging during frequent coastal weather events. A lack of consistent branding and coordination across departments made it difficult to deliver timely information and engage the community effectively.
Dunedin adopted Granicus’ Government Experience Cloud—including OpenCities, govDelivery, and OpenForms—to centralize web, email and SMS communications and target residents by topic. The tools were tested during Hurricane Ian with daily emergency updates and a live mayoral briefing; within six months the town doubled subscribers from 4,000 to 8,000 and today reports 11,000 subscribers, 50% newsletter open rates, 76% engagement, and more than 100 new subscribers per month in 2024 while streamlining department messaging.
