A Granicus Case Study

How Coos Bay, Oregon Used Technology to Reinvent the Way it Serves and Engages its Community

The city of Bellevue, WA, sought to expand its decade-long use of Granicus’ govDelivery beyond news releases to better reach residents who rely on mobile phones as their primary information source. Digital Communications Coordinator Claude Iosso identified SMS and more interactive engagement tools as essential to broadening the city’s communications and making it easier for residents to learn about and participate in local projects.

Bellevue added govDelivery’s SMS/text capabilities and launched EngagementHQ as “Engaging Bellevue,” using multilingual surveys, interactive maps, and two-way feedback to gather input on planning and road-safety projects. The initiative delivered strong results — a 58% engagement rate, 300% network impact, 29,000 subscriptions and 95,000 total subscribers — while making it easier for residents to pinpoint issues and stay informed.
