A Granicus Case Study

How a Partnership Based on Innovation Helps Expand Access to Public Meetings

AC Transit, the Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District serving riders across San Francisco’s East Bay, wanted to turn the surge in virtual meeting attendance during the pandemic into lasting public access and transparency. Working with Granicus and its agenda management and messaging tools, the agency focused on improving ADA accessibility and making it easier for the public to find agendas, minutes, Zoom links, and meeting notifications.

Granicus helped AC Transit update SendAgenda in govMeetings and create a workaround that added accessible agenda links and clickable Zoom links in meeting notices. The results were dramatic: email subscription lists grew from an average of 35 subscribers to more than 1,200, improving public engagement and making meeting participation much more accessible.
