Aberdeen City Council needed to cut long Blue Badge application backlogs and replace a paper-heavy process that relied on scanned forms, emails, spreadsheets, and postal evidence. With around 260 applications a month and wait times of 12–14 weeks, the council needed a faster, more reliable way to manage applications and improve service for residents.
Granicus implemented Blue Badge MyService as an end-to-end online solution, supported by more than 125 bespoke forms, automated eligibility checks, and a simple back-office workflow. The result was a 63% reduction in wait time, with Aberdeen saving up to 5 hours a week in eligibility checks and nearly 8 hours a week in admin time, while also reducing ongoing maintenance and helping staff and residents complete the process more easily.
