Grand Prairie’s Website Rebuild Emphasizes Mobile Efficiency

The City of Grand Prairie, Texas, faced an aging, text-heavy municipal website that frustrated residents and tied up staff with inefficient manual processes. Overfull navigation and an underpowered internal search made it hard to find information, and the site offered few mobile-friendly options.

Grand Prairie rebuilt its site with Granicus OpenCities and OpenForms—adding a prominent header search, redesigning the community calendar, and replacing PDFs with 225 mobile-friendly online forms—making services easier to find and use. The update cut dropped searches substantially (search exits fell from 19.48% to 4.67%), reduced calls to the switchboard, improved mobile functionality, and earned the city a 3rd-place Digital Government Award.
