A Granicus Case Study
The City of Kingston, Ontario, faced a high-stakes community decision regarding a multi-sport stadium proposal. With deep neighborhood ties to the site and a history of public skepticism, the city's challenge was to conduct an engagement process that would build trust, not just collect feedback. To achieve this, they partnered with Granicus and utilized their Sentiment & Feedback solution (EngagementHQ).
Granicus enabled a proactive, hybrid engagement model centered on transparency. The city publicly answered hundreds of resident questions and reported feedback in real time. This approach resulted in over 1,170 survey responses, 286 publicly answered questions, and a 150% higher engagement rate. Critically, the process directly informed a new community-led vision for the site and established a repeatable model for trust-centered engagement for the city.
