DHL Express Switzerland, part of DHL, needed a more modern and scalable observability approach to support complex package-tracking, customs clearance, analytics, OCR scanning, and warehouse operations. Their legacy monitoring was siloed and reactive, creating risk in an environment where downtime, false alarms, and failed requests had real business impact. They began evaluating Grafana and Prometheus to improve visibility and response times.
Grafana helped DHL Express Switzerland implement a phased observability stack using Prometheus, Grafana dashboards, Grafana Alerting, and Grafana k6 for load testing during a cloud migration. The result was faster issue resolution, proactive detection, and greater confidence in performance and scalability; by 2023, the team had grown the setup to 80 alerts, 40 dashboards, and 60 active users. DHL also planned to expand further with Grafana OnCall and Grafana Loki.
