Dell was undergoing a digital transformation and shifting from a project-based to a product-based operating model, which made it harder for product managers to track performance, goals, and multiple streams of metrics across teams. Using Grafana, along with Prometheus and Oracle, the company needed a better way to consolidate backlog, user, application, dev ops, compliance, and customer feedback data into a single view.
Grafana helped Dell build a “Product Team Observability” solution that pulled data from multiple sources into dashboards and metrics views for monitoring product maturity, cycle time, velocity, customer satisfaction, and other KPIs. The result was a data-driven culture shift that saved the product manager about six hours per week, improved team efficiency by roughly 10%, and helped four of five monitored products reach a 70% maturity goal by the end of the third quarter.
