Ayrfield Medical Practice, the largest GP practice in Kilkenny city serving 22,000 patients with ten GPs and eight nurses, was overwhelmed by rapidly rising call volumes (from about 200 to roughly 700 calls per day). Their legacy PBX and queuing system dropped calls, left patients unaware of their place in line, and couldn’t support the surge in outgoing calls and video consultations during COVID-19. The practice engaged GoTo (via partner GreenFire) and evaluated GoTo Connect as a replacement.

GreenFire implemented GoTo Connect (GoTo’s cloud-hosted phone and meeting system) for 50 users, adding hardware, a new fibre connection and porting numbers with a same-day switchover and no service interruption. The GoTo solution eliminated lost calls, let patients see their queue position, reduced complaints, and enabled staff to handle high call volumes alongside video consultations from any device — delivering clear, measurable improvements in reliability and capacity for the practice.
