The College of Paramedics, the UK’s recognised professional body for paramedics, faced a payments challenge: most of its roughly 5,300 members paid annually or biannually, but many wanted monthly payments and the incumbent Direct Debit provider made that prohibitively expensive. The College engaged GoCardless to provide a more flexible, cost-effective Direct Debit solution that could support monthly collections and a smoother onboarding process.

GoCardless implemented a lower-cost Direct Debit service with quick setup, an online dashboard and efficient mandate processing for large paper application batches, supported by the College’s IT consultant. The result: monthly collections became standard, membership affordability improved, and the College grew from about 5,300 to almost 13,000 members paying via GoCardless — with nearly 100% of members now on Direct Debit — while completing the switch within a tight timeframe.
