A GitHub Case Study

Preview of the Tokopedia Case Study

Tokopedia goes from monolith to microservices to support 7+ million entrepreneurs and 90+ million monthly active users

Tokopedia, Indonesia’s e-commerce platform for millions of merchants and monthly users, needed to scale beyond a monolithic architecture as its engineering team grew rapidly and deployment became too slow and centralized. The company wanted a simpler, cloud-based way to support microservices, faster releases, and easier collaboration across distributed teams.

Tokopedia moved to GitHub Enterprise Cloud, using GitHub to enable microservices workflows, code reviews, and GitHub Actions for automation. With GitHub, administrative overhead dropped, workflow automation rose from 20% to 80%, and the company now makes 200 to 300 production pushes per day with greater stability and speed.
