American Airlines - Customer Case Study

American Airlines, one of the world’s largest airlines, needed a better way to turn employee ideas from its HackWars innovation event into real, scalable projects. Before GitHub, teams used siloed tools and many promising concepts faded without clear ownership. American Airlines adopted GitHub Enterprise to support secure collaboration, code consolidation, and compliance across its distributed IT organization.

With GitHub, American Airlines created a central platform for hosting HackWars projects, assigning tasks, tracking technologies, and rapidly moving ideas toward proof of concept and production. The results included faster setup and access for teams, clearer visibility for sponsors, and more ideas progressing to funded or production-ready work; today, about 3,000 users rely on GitHub at American Airlines as its primary code listing and cloud storage platform.
