Unibuss deploys HASTUS faster with GIRO, supporting 1,750 drivers and 150 dispatchers

Unibuss, a leading provider of bus services in Greater Oslo, faced increased complexity when it decided to reimagine its crew dispatching and management processes during a 2017 upgrade of its long-standing HASTUS system from vendor GIRO. The challenge was to successfully implement the new DailyCrew, SelfService, and DailyVehicle modules for daily operations while managing the risks and unknowns inherent in such a complex software installation.

GIRO proposed and applied an agile iterative project approach, dividing the implementation into four distinct iterations that each delivered a set of fully tested software functionalities. This method allowed the project to be completed faster and with a smoother go-live than a traditional approach. The results were high-quality, with 150 dispatchers using DailyCrew for daily operations and 1,750 drivers gaining access to their assignments via SelfService. GIRO's solution also respected the initial budget ranges and delivery date required by Unibuss.
