Transdev Sverige AB deploys 145 electric buses in Gothenburg with GIRO

Transdev Sverige AB, Sweden's second-largest bus company, faced the challenge of bidding on and implementing several contracts requiring zero-emission vehicles for the city of Gothenburg. They needed a robust and optimized scheduling solution to plan for a large new fleet of electric buses. Using the HASTUS software from vendor GIRO, specifically its electric-bus scheduling features, Transdev was able to model various scenarios to create a competitive and operable proposal.

The solution from GIRO enabled Transdev to optimize their schedules around the new buses' range and charging constraints, including adapting plans to incorporate fast-charging stations after the contracts were awarded. As a result, Transdev successfully launched service with 145 new electric buses in December 2020, cutting annual CO2 emissions by 14,500 tonnes. They won all five contracts they bid on and now operate the largest electric-bus fleet in the Nordic region.
