SNCF boosts first-choice work assignments to 70% with GIRO HASTUS

The customer SNCF Voyageurs, a major French passenger rail group, faced the challenge of rigid, non-personalized work scheduling for its station staff, which did not consider employee preferences and could lead to uncovered duties and lower job satisfaction. They worked with the vendor GIRO, using its HASTUS software modules, to test a new dynamic work-assignment system aimed at increasing schedule robustness and employee engagement.

GIRO's solution implemented the HASTUS modules PlanCrew and DailyCrew to digitize and optimize monthly scheduling, allowing employees to express preferences for shifts and days off. The results showed 60-70% of participating employees obtained their first choice, employee satisfaction rated 8.9 out of 10, and uncovered duties were reduced by an average of 80%. This successful test at the Paris Est station paved the way for a broader rollout.
