Case Study: TELUS achieves 10% fuel economy improvement and fleet cost reductions with Geotab

A Geotab Case Study

Preview of the Telus Case Study

Sustainable fleets driven by data

TELUS, a leading Canadian telecom serving 16 million customers, faced the challenge of managing nearly 4,000 geographically dispersed vehicles while meeting ambitious sustainability targets (net carbon-neutral operations, 46% fleet GHG reduction by 2030). The company needed a secure, scalable fleet-management solution that would improve efficiency, validate decisions with accurate data, and support emissions-reduction initiatives across multiple business units.

TELUS implemented Geotab telematics beginning in 2018, reaching 85% fleet deployment to gain real‑time vehicle data for fuel, usage and safety analytics. The solution identified 50 underused vehicles, supported anti‑idling and electric PTO pilots, and required no formal training to roll out. Results include over 10% improvement in fuel economy since 2019, a 10% reduction in non‑fuel cost per kilometre, better driver safety and faster operational decisions through geofencing and accurate tracking.
