Techmate Talent Builds a Database of 20k Tech Candidates in Gem that it Sources from Directly

Techmate Talent, a San Francisco–based full-service search firm co-founded by Nathalie Pretzer and Alyssa Garrison, was struggling with fragmented sourcing on LinkedIn Lite—no easy way to see prior outreach, limited filtering, manual follow-ups, and little down-funnel visibility. To address this, they adopted Gem (using Gem Jobs as their ATS and Gem Prospects for talent pools) to centralize candidate data, tag and filter prospects, and automate reminders and pipeline tracking.

Using Gem, Techmate built and now sources from a database of over 20,000 technical candidates in Gem Prospects, queues and sends outreach directly from the platform, and uses custom fields, the Gem extension/email integration, and nurture campaigns to maintain and re-engage talent. Gem’s send-on-behalf-of and Outreach Stats features improved response rates and enabled clear, client-ready reporting, delivering measurable efficiency gains—faster sourcing (often fully within Gem for the first 2–3 months of a search), stronger pipeline visibility, and automated follow-up workflows.
