A GBG Case Study
Lothian Pension Fund, the second-largest local government pension scheme administrator in Scotland managing over £10 billion in assets for nearly 90,000 members and 56 employers, needed a faster, more reliable way to find missing members, confirm deaths and contact next-of-kin to meet The Pensions Regulator’s data quality rules. Manual follow-up of bulk screening results was time-consuming and left many cold and low-confidence cases untraced.
GBG’s Investigate solution was piloted in late 2019 and then rolled out from a single licence to the whole Member Services team; its 1.5 billion interlinked consumer, business and property records and flexible search methods helped GBG find almost all pilot test samples, significantly increase user numbers and check volumes, and resolve historical “cold” death cases so next-of-kin could be paid. The Fund reports improved data governance, faster tracing outcomes and that GBG is now integral to day-to-day operations.
