Patelco Credit Union, a San Francisco–based credit union with more than 300,000 members and $4.3 billion in assets, needed to automate identity verification for online account origination to reduce manual, fax-based ID proofing, prevent ID theft, and meet compliance requirements. To address this, Patelco selected GBG’s ExpectID suite (including ExpectID IQ and Patriot Act watchlist checks) to replace the burdensome two‑ID fax process with an automated solution.
GBG implemented real‑time electronic ID proofing that dynamically generates multiple‑choice knowledge quizzes (ExpectID IQ), verifies IDs, and screens multiple watchlists to satisfy USA Patriot Act checks. The deployment eliminated the fax requirement, reduced internal resource needs, increased the number of applicants who can complete online applications, strengthened fraud prevention and compliance, and is being extended to Patelco’s 50 branches for high‑risk transactions.
