IDology Helps Obopay Power Mobile Payments by Automating Their CIP Process

Obopay, a mobile peer-to-peer payments provider, needed a way to meet CIP/KYC and OFAC requirements while keeping enrollment simple and protecting customers from identity theft and fraud. To address this, Obopay selected GBG and its identity-verification offerings (ExpectID IQ for knowledge-based authentication and ExpectID PA for OFAC watchlist checks) to provide flexible, consumer-friendly identity proofing across a range of demographics.

GBG implemented a real-time, dynamically generated multiple-choice verification quiz plus OFAC screening, and provided point-and-click configuration so Obopay could tune settings without IT support. The result was a very small drop rate during onboarding, extremely low fraud numbers, reliable detection of name mismatches/misspellings, and stronger compliance posture for state exams — demonstrating measurable improvements in both customer experience and fraud prevention.
