Hanover, one of the UK’s leading retirement housing providers managing 19,000+ properties across 600 estates, needed to cleanse and validate decades of unmaintained address data in its Capita OPENHousing system. To restore confidence in a single central system, Hanover commissioned GBG to perform a full data cleanse and to prevent future errors using GBG’s Bureau Service for batch cleansing and the Matchcode real‑time address capture and verification product.

GBG performed a postcode and address cleanse with de‑duplication, then integrated Matchcode into OPENHousing to validate all addresses at point of entry against the Royal Mail PAF. The result was a clean, maintained database, elimination of spreadsheets and workarounds, and measurable operational gains: roughly 600 of Hanover’s 900 staff now use the system daily (550 estate managers and 50 housing managers), faster address entry, and improved mailing accuracy thanks to GBG’s solution.
