GBG helps Anthony Nolan save lives through stem cell transplants

Anthony Nolan is a UK stem cell transplant charity with 50 years’ expertise that runs a donor register to match patients with lifesaving stem cell transplants. Their challenge was that out-of-date contact details on a register of over 915,000 potential donors could prevent time-critical blood tests and stop a transplant going ahead. To improve donor tracing and contact data, Anthony Nolan adopted GBG’s Investigate solution in 2010.

GBG Investigate uses over 1.5 billion enhanced, interlinked consumer and business records to surface verified phone numbers, emails, previous addresses and linked contacts, which Anthony Nolan says “transformed our donor tracing.” In a 2023 database healthcheck GBG flagged incorrect contacts, helped prioritise high‑value (younger) donors, enabled use of alternative numbers/emails and informed upcoming text campaigns — supporting the register that has helped nearly 27,000 transplants and gives four people a day a second chance to live, with GBG providing 15 years of ongoing support.
