Dosh, New Zealand’s first mobile wallet and real‑time payments network, faced strict KYC and electronic identity verification requirements under local law as it launched in 2021. Global providers lacked the necessary New Zealand regulatory knowledge, so Dosh partnered with Cloudcheck, a GBG company, to meet local eID, identity and address verification obligations and reassure customers used to in‑branch identity checks.

GBG (via Cloudcheck) implemented Cloudcheck’s API for Identity and Address verification plus international PEP & Sanctions Watchlist screening, integrating the Go API directly into Dosh’s onboarding flow. The solution cross‑references customers against government and address sources as required by law, reduces fraud and AML/CTF risk, and enables seamless, compliant onboarding with minimal friction so users can open mobile wallets only after verified identity checks.
