Vinoshipper, the leading end-to-end e-commerce platform that enables alcohol producers to sell direct-to-consumer, faced the dual challenge of expanding online sales while preventing underage purchases and proving regulatory compliance. To solve this, Vinoshipper embedded GBG’s IDology age verification software into its shopping carts to validate identity and age at the point of purchase.

GBG’s IDology checks buyer name, address and birthdate against billions of records and escalates uncertain cases to document authentication, canceling transactions when IDs fail or buyers are underage while providing full decisioning transparency. In a study of over 2,000 client carts (633,985 buyers and more than one million shipments from 2020–2022), Vinoshipper found IDology blocked 100% of illegal alcohol sales to minors: 75.3% passed on first attempt, 24.6% required ID submission, and just 0.15% were identified as minors with transactions canceled and no payment taken.
