A Frontline Education Case Study
Kentwood Public Schools, a K–12 district in Kentwood, MI known for academic excellence, faced Michigan’s teacher shortage and high turnover among paraprofessionals, interventionists, clerical staff, and after‑school staff. To hire, onboard, train, and evaluate more than 70 new employees annually without overwhelming administrators, the district turned to Frontline Education, adopting Frontline Recruiting & Hiring, Frontline Absence & Time, Frontline Professional Growth, and Frontline Central to replace slow, paper‑based processes.
Frontline Education implemented an automated hiring-to-onboarding workflow—led locally by Eric Schimmelmann—using Recruiting & Hiring for applicant sourcing and online pre‑hire packets, Absence Management to replace manual absence tracking, Professional Growth for observations and evaluations, and Frontline Central to store and route records. The switch eliminated paper forms, enabled personalized recruiting, allowed HR/payroll/benefits to track tasks centrally, and cut hiring time from weeks to days: Kentwood posted 146 jobs and filled 72 positions, including onboarding 20 extra teachers in the first two weeks of the school year.
