How Raymore-Peculiar School District is Making Substitute Teaching More Attractive

Raymore-Peculiar School District, a K-12 district in Peculiar, Missouri, was facing a shortage of substitute teachers and wanted to increase its fill rate without adding more burden to its staff. In partnership with Frontline Education, the district looked for a way to make substitute teaching more attractive and address the financial pressures that can make part-time work harder to accept.

Frontline Education implemented Wagestream through Frontline’s Absence Management, giving substitutes access to earned wages immediately through flexible pay. The rollout was quick and required no implementation effort from the district, with no payroll integration work needed. Dr. Lisa Hatfield said the benefit was a “no-brainer” and expects it to help attract more substitutes and improve fill rates, though no hard usage metrics were provided.
