Seasonal Staff Hits Home Run with HotSchedules Labor and Communication Tools

The Joliet Slammers, a minor‑league baseball team at Silver Cross Field with a 7,000‑seat capacity, 14 skyboxes, multiple party decks and a large seasonal workforce, struggled with manual paper scheduling, no centralized schedule access, poor stadium‑wide communication and difficulty adjusting staffing for weather and events across 125 employees. Managing the equivalent of a dozen foodservice outlets at once made timely scheduling and reliable timekeeping nearly impossible.

By rolling out HotSchedules with PayControl and WebClock and mapping each stand and role as a Location, management centralized scheduling, clock‑ins and communications while giving seasonal staff a mobile app to manage shifts. The result was streamlined scheduling and time‑and‑attendance, improved on‑ and off‑shift communication, enforced clock‑ins that reduced labor costs, simplified payroll exports and high seasonal retention rates (around 85–90%).
