Disaster response organization uses Foursquare data to inform operational decisions

Disaster Response Organization partnered with Foursquare to improve disaster planning and supply delivery decisions. The organization needed anonymous, near-real-time data on resident movement patterns and which businesses were still operating in impacted areas, but its previous data sources had too much latency to support timely response.

Using Foursquare’s aggregated movement data and Foursquare Places, the organization built a dashboard to visualize day-over-day population concentrations, movement trends, and point-of-interest activity. With Foursquare’s fresh, privacy-compliant data, decision-makers could better predict where people were going, identify where supplies were needed most, and make faster, more accountable operational decisions during disaster response.
