A Fiserv Case Study
Tyndall Federal Credit Union, a $1.6 billion credit union serving more than 116,000 members in the Florida Panhandle, faced a sudden crisis when Hurricane Michael compromised the roof of its primary data center and local backup power was lost, threatening member access to core account services. The credit union had previously identified critical systems tied to Fiserv and completed an annual disaster recovery exercise, then partnered with Fiserv’s business continuity services and its Corvallis, OR data center for contingency support.
Fiserv activated its disaster recovery plan, bringing Tyndall’s core account processing online at the Fiserv-hosted Corvallis facility within six hours and working through the night to restore additional services; Tyndall’s environment remained hosted there for four months while repairs were made. The rapid Fiserv-led cutover and the credit union’s tested preparedness kept members connected during recovery, enabled a smooth return of systems to Tyndall in February 2019, and strengthened the organization’s confidence in future disaster response.
