Capital City Bank, a $3 billion regional bank, faced a fragmented, manual reconciliation process: about 20 people across a dozen departments were hand-keying data into Excel for nearly 400 general ledger accounts, causing inconsistencies, formatting errors and limited visibility into balances. To fix control and data-integrity gaps, the bank turned to Fiserv’s Frontier Reconciliation and Account Certification.

Fiserv centralized and automated reconciliation and certification, auto-loading data nightly and using an automated matching engine to sync transactions. The result: nearly 90% of eligible manual reconciliations automated, some accounts reconciled 50–75% faster (many reduced from 20–30 minutes to about 5 minutes), reconciliations now handled by five FTEs (one accounting FTE eliminated and 0.5 FTE reallocated), stronger segregation of duties, and improved auditor access and audit trails.
