A FICO Case Study
A major U.S. bank with more than $29 billion in assets and over $19 billion in domestic core deposits wanted to automate hold decisions on deposits to improve profitability and risk control. Its goals were to push its efficiency ratio to 50%, raise depositor fees by 10–12%, and reduce operational losses by at least 7.5% while ensuring consistent customer service across branches.
The bank implemented FICO TRIAD Customer Manager to make risk-based, automated hold decisions, manage hold periods within Regulation CC, and use champion/challenger testing to continuously improve performance. As a result it met its objectives: the deposit hold rate fell to 3%, branch hold overrides dropped 17%, and decision consistency and confidence in risk controls improved across the organization.
