Lebanon's CreditBank overhauls originations process to gear up for growth

CreditBank, a Lebanon-based commercial bank, set out to grow its consumer banking share in an extremely crowded market (53 banks, 862 branches serving ~4.2 million people). The bank needed to attract profitable new customers while keeping delinquency rates under control, but its origination and underwriting process was entirely manual and slow.

CreditBank implemented FICO Capstone Decision Accelerator, scorecards and FICO Business Consulting; scorecards were in use after three months and the tool deployed within six months. The new system automated roughly 50% of underwriting (from 100% manual), speeding and standardizing decisions, improving cross-selling and giving business managers greater control; the bank aims to cut manual referrals to 25% (with 80–90% automation possible on some products) and expects a fast return on investment.
