A FICO Case Study
Egg plc, the world’s largest internet-only bank with about 3.6 million customers, needed a faster, more consistent way to coordinate credit decisions across the business while reducing manual interventions and time to market. Egg aimed to match applicants to products, set appropriate credit limits and communicate decisions in real time, with business users owning scorecards, strategies and policies and minimal IT involvement.
Egg implemented FICO’s Blaze Advisor business rules management system and FICO Advanced Models, building a “Blaze Control Center” that lets business users test and deploy rules quickly. The change cut manual referrals from 35% to 9%, reduced rule-change time from 35 days to 2 days (actual edits take minutes), increased income from higher acceptance rates by 1.5%, lowered provisioning for bad debt by 1%, achieved full ROI in six months (about $10M saved per year), and now processes over 10,000 applications daily with no downtime in the first three years.
