A FICO Case Study
Dell Financial Services, the lender behind a $4.5 billion portfolio, faced growing complexity as originations volumes surged. Its legacy, custom-coded decision system was inflexible—difficult to add scoring models, limited to a single bureau, dependent on IT for rule changes, and generating a high rate of manual fraud reviews—forcing time-to-market for new offers to stretch six to nine months.
DFS implemented a FICO Universal Decision Engine—integrating Blaze Advisor, Falcon ID and Capstone Intelligent Data Manager—to create rules-driven, service-oriented decision services with unified bureau and fraud data. The new platform automated many customer decisions, improved fraud precision, slashed manual reviews, cut offer rollout time to under two weeks, and drove double-digit increases in approvals and revenue.
