A FICO Case Study
Bank of Communications, one of China’s oldest and most innovative banks, teamed with HSBC to form the Pacific Credit Card Center and aggressively pursue credit‑card market leadership. Facing a rapidly expanding but still immature credit‑card market—with regulatory and payment uncertainties and a strong savings culture—the bank needed to scale origination and customer‑lifecycle decisions quickly while controlling risk and maximizing shareholder value.
The bank implemented a FICO Decision Management suite—Capstone Decision Accelerator for high‑volume origination, TRIAD Customer Manager for account and portfolio management, and Model Builder for predictive analytics—creating China’s first automated customer lifecycle platform. The TRIAD phase went live three months early, and the program aims to lift revenues by 25–30% and cut bad debt by 15–25% through faster, more precise, and automated decisioning.
