A FICO Case Study
Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC), which helps SMEs access financing, needed to transform from a loan–guarantee provider into a direct lender. That shift required better originations and risk management—reviewing demographic and bureau data, ensuring regulatory compliance, handling frequent business-rule changes, and replacing a manual, single-scorecard process that could not accurately predict risk across diverse products.
CGC implemented FICO Blaze Advisor to create an in‑house, automated rules repository, integrated bureau and AML checks, and four tailored scorecards (three data-driven and one expert model). Business users can manage policies without coding, and the changes delivered measurable results: non-performing loans fell to 1.8% for Blaze-processed applications versus 7.4% elsewhere, processing times and data-manipulation risk were reduced, time-to-market for new products shortened, and overall asset quality and portfolio risk prediction improved.
