Absa Bank, South Africa’s largest retail bank, needed to become more agile during an economic downturn and rising competition. Its retail credit decisioning was fragmented across technologies with hardcoded rules and off-site scorecards, making strategic rule changes slow, IT-dependent and measured in weeks.

Absa deployed FICO Blaze Advisor with the Decision Simulator (implemented with PIC Solutions) to create a scalable, connected decisioning framework under an enterprise license. The platform reduced rule-change cycles from weeks to days, enabled migration of credit‑card scorecards in under four months, returned control to the business and improved consistency and agility across lending products.
