WetterOnline, a German weather service providing 14‑day forecasts and global weather data via website and mobile apps, wanted to grow awareness and acquire app users in new European markets beyond its Central Europe core.

Using Facebook tools—Custom Audiences from site users, lookalike audiences, mobile app ads and oCPM bidding to optimize for installs—WetterOnline ran a five‑month campaign (Sept 2015–Feb 2016) that reached users in over 15 international markets, achieved 30% cheaper conversion costs than other channels and delivered a 25% return on ad spend.
