Visa, a global payment technology company and official sponsor of the Rio 2016 Olympics, aimed to boost brand awareness in Russia, increase usage versus other payment methods, and strengthen its association with the Games among local consumers.

Over eight weeks Visa and agency Starcom ran point-based activations that entered users into a draw for tickets to the Olympic opening ceremony, supported by Facebook Carousel and Canvas ads, Instagram placements, Core Targeting and Custom Audiences. The campaign reached 1.8 million people and drove a 17-point lift in ad recall (22 points among 35–44s), an 11-point lift in message association and an 80% increase in female preference for Visa.
