A Facebook Case Study
Thomson, a UK specialty travel company founded in 1965, wanted to boost bookings and global online sales while keeping its cost per acquisition efficient. To do this it partnered with Facebook Marketing Partner Adobe to use Facebook’s granular targeting and engaging creative across devices.
Using Adobe Media Optimizer, Thomson ran a link-ad campaign (Jan–June 2015) that tested creative (light-colored imagery +30% performance), audience (website Custom Audiences and Lookalike Audiences) and placement (mobile-first touch then desktop). The campaign cut cost per acquisition by 69%, increased online sales by 58%, and delivered 10× higher CTR with retargeting and 5× higher CTR with Lookalike Audiences.
