SurvivalKit.com is an online retailer of emergency-preparedness gear that launched the J5 Tactical flashlight in 2014 and needed to introduce the new product to its target market—Americans 18–65 who enjoy camping, hiking and outdoor activities—and drive online sales.
They used Facebook carousel ads, starting with a $30–50/day test budget and scaling to $4,000–10,000/day, then added a Facebook pixel to build Custom Audiences and Lookalike Audiences and link ads directly to the product landing page. The campaign delivered a 3–4X return on ad spend, a 4X increase in product shipments and a 100X expansion of their customer database, while also lifting sales of higher‑ticket survival kits.
