A Facebook Case Study
Sungy Mobile, a China-based mobile internet company behind the phone-cleaning app GO Speed, wanted to increase app installs and improve user retention. Having previously relied on photo ads, the team set out to test multiple Facebook ad formats to find higher-performing creative and messaging.
They ran two rounds of tests—first comparing photo vs. video to identify the most compelling app feature, then testing video, carousel, slideshow and photo ads focused on that feature—targeting audiences by location, demographics, interests and behavior. Video ads drove 2.5× more installs at a 58% lower cost per install; carousel ads delivered 20% more installs at 19% lower CPI; and slideshow ads produced 15% more installs at 14% lower CPI, prompting Sungy to continue experimenting with ad formats.
