A Facebook Case Study
PastBook is a Dutch startup (founded 2012) that turns Facebook and Instagram photos into digital and printed keepsakes. To scale the business and boost downloads of its My Year app, the company needed to capitalise on Facebook moments like Friends’ Day and Valentine’s Day to drive awareness and conversions.
PastBook leaned into the product’s social nature with sharing plugins and a series of Facebook ad campaigns using Custom Audiences, Lookalike Audiences and retargeting, plus photo and video ads for the app. By directing its ad budget to Facebook it achieved >5x conversions, 100× revenue growth, 65% of revenue from Facebook ads, a 40% higher ROAS, and roughly 70–75% of app installs coming from Facebook at about €1 or less per install.
