Mentos, made by Perfetti van Melle, set out to remind Australians that the brand brings people together by reaching half of 18–39‑year‑olds in Australia and boosting brand awareness, recall and purchase intent—tapping into the insight that adults often find starting conversations with strangers awkward.
Mentos ran the playful “Mentos Mentors” video campaign on Facebook and Instagram—kids coached adults to strike up conversations and offer a Mentos—using reach-and-frequency buying and Custom Audiences retargeting to 18–35s. In one month the campaign reached 74% of the target audience (5 million people), drove 1.6 million video views (90% on mobile) and delivered a 5‑point lift in brand recall and a 2‑point lift in campaign recall.
